Defenders hired in the 5th, 6th, and 7th Judicial Districts

Congratulations to Ben Andersen, David Martinez and Jordan Crane, who’ve been selected to be the District Public Defenders for Idaho’s 5th, 6th, and 7th Judicial Districts for the State Public Defender (SPD).  The District Magistrate Commissions appointed the three attorneys to their new jobs earlier this month.

Andersen, Martinez, and Crane, who were the lead public defenders in Twin Falls, Bannock, and Bonneville counties, will manage the institutional public defense offices and contract public defenders in their judicial districts for the SPD.

Andersen, Martinez, and Crane are all long-time civil servants who have a deep commitment to providing zealous defense for indigent clients and are very familiar with the unique rural/urban mix of their districts.

State Public Defender Eric Fredericksen was in eastern Idaho for Martinez and Crane’s commission interviews last week and in Twin Falls earlier this week – and left excited to work with all three attorneys to transform public defense in Idaho.

Magistrate Commission interviews for District Defenders in Idaho’s 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st districts will be done by Aug. 1.
